Where will your entrepreneurial journey take you?

Take the road less traveled.

Since its inception in 1999, the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship (CNVE) has served as the hub of entrepreneurship for Texas A&M University. CNVE enhances the student experience by providing education, training, networking and resources for enterprising students, faculty, veterans and former students.

As Hockey Legend Wayne Gretsky once said, "I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been". In Professor Don Lewis' multidisciplinary Innovative Product Development course, cross-listed in five colleges, students of all levels use Lean Startup to see the future for a product and be light years ahead of industry trends.

University / Post Oak Mall Collaboratory (UPC)

Startup Aggieland's UPC is a "popup" retail incubator -- the first Retail Incubator in our state. In partnership with Mays Business School's Center for Retailing Studies and CBL Management in Waco, owner of Post Oak Mall, the UPC opened in June 2015 with our client Lynx Toys, which has since sold more than 25,000 pool noodle connectors.

A recognized student organization at Texas A&M University, ESociety is the front door for students to explore entrepreneurship. Leadership positions are available. ESociety's annual signature event is Startup 101. The student-managed three-day workshop is open to the public. ESociety also hosts speakers and social events.

3-Day Startup is an extreme launch experience, open to all majors and levels of study at Texas A&M University. Staged at Startup Aggieland each fall and spring, students form teams and develop products, then pitch to investors at a public networking event. 3DS is free for students, including all meals and snacks at the 72-hour event.

Student-vetted, the Seed Fund offers non-dilutive grants for student ventures. Startup Aggieland requires no equity or IP ownership in return, but we hope you'll pay it forward:

Startup Aggieland also operates a 44-bed Startup Living Learning Community and Dormcubator for freshmen.

Located in Hullabaloo Hall, our Dormcubator features "Fireside Chats" by startup founders ranging from students to successful serial entrepreneurs. Award-winning faculty with our academic partners also frequently conduct informal chats. Partner colleges include the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship (CNVE), Dwight Look College of Engineering & Computer Science; College of Architecture and College of Liberal Arts.

Our two-semester, multidisciplinary program requires freshmen to enroll in the one-hour MGMT 289: Introduction to Entrepreneurship Part 1 & Part 2, which meets weekly at Startup Aggieland in the Think Tank. Our fall class explores the local and regional entrepreneurship ecosystem and participates in free pitch competitions on a local, regional and national level. The first semester program requires participation in either 3-Day Startup or Startup 101-- both powered by CNVE. Alternatives include Food+City Challenge Prize; Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization's National Elevator Pitch Competition; and AggiesInvent. Fall semester kicks off with a day-long orientation during Gig `em Week at a world-class tech accelerator located in Texas A&M's BioCorridor. Students will attend a technology commercialization lecture by the Assistant Vice Chancellor with Texas A&M Technology Commercialization. The highlight of fall semester is our roadtrip to Austin for tours of Google, RetailMeNot, Facebook, Capital Factory, IBM and/or Outbound Engine. We also dine at two landmark eateries with Austin investors or local CEOs.

During our second semester, freshmen develop their $10 business ideas from fall semester or other ventures into full-fledged startups with the goal of generating revenue in 90 days or filing a provisional patent. Students retain 100% of their equity and intellectual property. The spring class also visits world-class business accelerators and local maker spaces during a startup crawl in Historic Downtown Bryan. Our spring trip to San Antonio always includes a tour of Rackspace and usually a visit to Geedom or Miner Corporation. Students are required to participate in Ideas Challenge, powered by CNVE; and/or the Lean Launch program at Startup Aggieland. Students lead activities with the local chapter of Lemonade Day and other business philanthropies supported by Startup Aggieland. Students have the opportunity to attend an Aggie Angel Network investor meeting and participate in five weeks of free pitch coaching with a Shark Tank Pitch Coach.
